Ficus benjamina is a tall spreading shade tree with a tight conical growth habit, creating a dense and bushy appearance. This tree produces small, shiny dark green leaves. Weeping Fig is ideal as a container plant on patios and decks, a great shade tree for the garden and excellent planted along paths and streets. This tree can also be planted in pots indoors. It thrives in a wide range of soils and conditions, but prefers a sunny, open position in moist, well drained soil. This evergreen tree is also frost hardy and resistant to leaf dropping. Weeping Fig is waterwise once established, water during warmer weather, as well as mulch to retain moisture. Prune to shape as required, this will encourage dense growth. Ficus benjamina can grow to a height of 9 metres and a width of 5 metres if not pruned to desired shape and height or contained in a pot.
Light: Ficus benjamina does well in bright, indirect light and can tolerate low light levels. If planted outdoors it can tolerate direct sunlight in the morning.
Watering: Ficus benjamina is waterwise once established, water during warmer weather, as well as mulch to retain moisture.
