The Blue Rush, also known as Greater Pond Sedge or Blue Sedge, is a great pond plant to give you a different colour to your water garden. The Blue/Grey long sword-shaped foliage rises from a central clump. The Blue Rush is a must have for attracting frogs and enhancing the ecosystem of the pond. When exposed to full sun, the Blue Rush will grow vertically and when in part shade, the Blue Rush tends to have a semi-weeping growth. Our Blue Rush Plants tend to get to a height of 40cm when kept in pots. If planted in the ground or in the pond it can reach a height of 1.5m Prefers Shallow Water or Bog Areas. Can be grown in the garden in moist soil.
Pond Plants are always a great addition to any pond. They compete with the algae for nutrients which helps to keep the pond clean. Having multiple plants can be an effective way of filtering the water but you generally need to have half the water surface covered to have a noticeable change. This also depends on certain factors such as type of fish and location of the pond. As well as filtering the water, pond plants help to oxygenate the water during the day.
Our Pond Plants can come in two main pot sizes, 140mm ($12.95) or 200mm ($20.00) pot. The 140mm pots are generally always in stock but the larger 200mm pots are not always available. Seasonal plants are not generally available during dormancy. Please check for availability.
