The Swamp Hibiscus, also known as Water Hibiscus and Scarlet Rosemallow, is native to South-eastern United States. The Swamp Hibiscus has a woody stem but is popular due to its stunning, large, five petaled, bright red flowers that can draw the attention to wildlife, such as birds and butterflies. The Hibiscus will die back completely in Winter and will need to be pruned down to the ground. The plant should sprout from the base again in Spring. The flowers generally only last for a few days but flowering will occur continuously throughout Summer.
Pond Plants are always a great addition to any pond. They compete with the algae for nutrients which helps to keep the pond clean. Having multiple plants can be an effective way of filtering the water but you generally need to have half the water surface covered to have a noticeable change. This also depends on certain factors such as type of fish and location of the pond. As well as filtering the water, pond plants help to oxygenate the water during the day.
Our Pond Plants can come in two main pot sizes, 140mm ($12.95) or 200mm ($20.00) pot. The 140mm pots are generally always in stock but the larger 200mm pots are not always available. Seasonal plants are not generally available during dormancy. Please check for availability
